Truck falls down Kalinga bridge to river; driver hurt
BALBALAN, Kalinga – A truck overloaded with cement fell down a bridge
down to a river here around 9 a.m. of Oct. 9 at Comias, Barangay Dao-angan.
A police report said the ill-fated Isuzu Forward dump truck with
plate number RHY 226 was owned by BHM Construction Company and driven by Herman
Sagmayao, 32.
Investigation disclosed the truck was loaded with 150 bags of Excel
cement traversing the Pinukpuk-Balbalan Provincial Road headed to Supak,
Poswoy. While crossing the Dao-angan bridge, it suddenly collapsed due to heavy
load and fell down the river around 22 feet from the bridge. The driver was
rushed to the Western Kalinga District Hospital, Balbalan, Kalinga for
medication.
Members of the 3rd MC Regional Safety Battalion led by Insp.
John Paul Colangan were early responders.
NPA guerilla surrenders in Abra
SALLAPADAN, Abra -- A New
People's Army guerilla surrendered to government forces here Oct. 8 here at
Poblacion Gangal.
Lowel Carmelo Maglia, 22 of Kilusang Larangang Gerilya North
Abra surrendered without firearms to Mayor Nenita Mustard Cardenas in the
presence of regional police and 73rd DRC based at at Sadag, Maguyepyep.
A police report said Maglia’s group was operating in Abra and
possibly responsible in the series of attacks and harassments against lawmen in
the province and nearby provinces.
“The surrender was realized after the latter was frustrated
with the leadership of the group and for fear of his life as government forces
are continuously conducting tactical offensives,” said a police report. “He
likewise experienced hardships within the organization and is willing to avail
of the opportunities being offered by the government to former NPA rebels.”
Taxi driver hunted by cops for abducting kid
BAGUIO CITY – A taxi
driver, reportedly a drunkard, is now being hunted by police for forcibly
taking his 2-year-old child Oct. 8 from the care of the kid’s grandparents.
The
abducted kid was identified as Carlyn C. Mendoza while her father was named as
Jeffrey Bravo.
The
incident was reported to police by Marcy Joy C. Cacdac, 25, of Samulog, La
Trinidad, Benguet and the kid’s grandparents spouses Brendesi C. Mendoza, 66, and Lourdes C. Mendoza, 58,
both of Purok 4, Dontogan, Baguio City.
Bravo, here
of Fairview, was reportedly the victim’s biological father and former live-in
partner of Kathlene C. Mendoza, the daughter of the Mendoza couple.
That day
around 4:45 p.m., the suspect who was allegedly under the influence of
liquor went to the house of the Mendozas and approached Cacdac who was
then holding Carlyn and tried to grab the child. Cacdac resisted and
refused to give the child but Bravo pointed an object on her right
waist.
Because of
fear, Cacdac was forced to give the child to Bravo who immediately boarded a
taxi of unknown plate number and left the area.
The
Mendoza couple told police last February, their daughter Kathlene went to
work in Hongkong and left her child under her parents’ care. She instructed her
parents not to give the child to her father since he was not capable of taking
care of the child due to drinking problem.
Police went
to the suspect’s house at No. 87 Central Fairview, but his brother claimed that Brave was no
longer living at their residence.
Farmer hacked after found with peer’s daughter in shanty
BUGUIAS, Benguet – A
farmer hacked another farmer here Monday around 5:30 p.m. in Lusab, Mansoyosoy
when he found him at a shanty with his daughter.
Police
identified the victim as Romel Pacis Dubyag, 31, while the suspect was
named as Eladio Bilag Bandao, aka “Ladion”, 58, of Wangwang, Ambaguio,
Nueva Vizcaya. The incident was reported to police Loli, brother of the victim.
Investigation
disclosed the victim was at the shanty of Juvy Attiw Bandao, 13, out of school
youth and OSY, daughter of the suspect. Bandao suddenly appeared and hacked
Dubyag several times which caused wounds on both hands of the victim. The
victim managed to escape and asked for help from his neighbors who rushed him
to Lutheran Hospital in Barangay Abatan.H e was later referred to Luis Hora
Memorial Hospital, Bauko, Mountain Province for further medication by his
attending physician Judith Tino. The suspect fled after the incident. A case is
being readied for filing against Bandao at the Prosecutors Office.
3 gunned down in Tarlac, Isabela
Three persons were
gunned down in Tarlac and Isabela on Monday.
Tricycle
driver Michael Christian Carballo, 34, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Norte,
Paniqui, Tarlac, was waiting for a passenger jeepney when he was shot by
motorcycle-riding men.
Socrates
Bala Sr., 41, a son of former judge Dionisio Bala of Barangay District 1,
Cauayan, Isabela, and his companion identified only as Tintin were about
to board a Toyota Hilux in front of a grocery store in Barangay District 3 when
they were fired at.
Bala died
at the scene. Tintin died while being treated at the Isabela United Doctors
Medical Center Inc.
Young man stabs farmer for talking to his aunt
BANGUED, Abra – An unemployed young man was jailed for reportedly
stabbing a farmer here Monday around 8:30 a.m. for no reason at Barangay
Ubbog-Lipcan.
The victim was named as Marcelino Bolante Bersalona, 32,while
the suspect was Ervin Jay Bona Bisquera, 21.
Investigation disclosed the victim was talking with a certain
Auring Bona, aunt of the suspect when Biquera suddenly appeared in front of the
victim and suddenly tabbed him once causing on his chin.
The victim was rushed to Abra Provincial Hospital for medical
treatment while the suspect was arrested by responding police. Recovered from
the suspect was a kitchen knife.
Good Taste Restaurant supervisor robbed
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A supervisor of Good Taste Restaurant in
nearby Baguio City was robbed of her cell phone and tablet worth around P25,000
and P3,800 cash here before dawn Monday
at Upper Wangal.
Police identified the victim as Gerlie Juanzo
Dangpilen, 28, single, saying the
victim went to the comfort room then returned to her bed that time. At about 5
a.m., the victim noticed the windows and door of their boarding house were
half-open. The victim checked her belongings and found out the following were
missing: Acer Tablet worth P11,000, NEO Netbook worth P9,000; Samsung J1 cell
phone worth P6,800 and the cash. The unidentified suspect/s used a bamboo stick
to push the hook lock of the door through the window and used the door as their
entrance and exit.
Couple, friend, lose P300-k gadgets, cash to thieves
BAGUIO CITY – A couple and their friend lost around P300,000 worth of
gadgets to thieves here unit at Pine
Ridge Condominium, Upper General Luna Road before dawn on Oct. 8.
The victims identified as spouses, Murphy Harry P Nocum, 30,
and his wife Maria Fernanda, 29, American national.
Investigation disclosed that at around 12:45 a.m. The couple
with their friend Katrina Barrientos left their unit locked and went for a
drinking session. They reportedly placed the key of their unit on top of the
cabinet beside the main door. At around 4:35 a.m., the victims arrived and
discovered that their belongings and cash were missing.
These included two Macbook Pro Laptop, worth P140,000;
IPhone cell phone, P12,000;
projector, P17,000; Air 2 Ipod, P17,000;
Drone, P90,000; three gold rings,P100,000, necklace and one earring, P37,000, wedding ring, P22,000
and P20,000 cash.
Investigation revealed unidentified thieves gained entry by opening
the main door of the unit by using the key placed on top of the cabinet near
the main door.
3 shot dead in CL over drugs
CABANATUAN CITY –
Three persons were shot dead in Central Luzon Monday over suspected drug links.
Jeric
Ventosa, 39, chairman of Barangay Villa Ofelia here and his companion Neilson Espiritu were in a
Toyota Vios when motorcycle-riding men shot them along Maharlika Highway.
Police said
an alleged drug pusher identified only as Badong shot it out with anti-drug
operatives during a sting in Barangay Capihan, San Rafael, Bulacan. A caliber
.38 revolver, four sachets of shabu and marked money were allegedly recovered
from the fatality.
Dominador
Vero, 32, was walking in Barangay Muzon, San Jose del Monte, Bulacan when he
was shot.
Unidentified
men in a car fired at Richmond Reyes in Barangay San Roque Arbol, Lubao,
Pampanga.
Kibungan mayor reports hacking, stealing of motorbikes
KIBUNGAN, Benguet – Mayor Cesar M. Molitas of this town reported to
police Monday a hacking incident that transpired here at Sitio Dalumpi-it,
Madaymen.
Victims were identified as Peter Malugdos, 45 and Marzan Oyando, 22,
both farmers and surnamed Paticaoen while suspects were named as Oliver Eslao
and Mr. Rosal Medrano.
Investigation disclosed that victims were mauled and hacked by the
suspects around 7 to 8 p.m. that day. Peter suffered injuries on his leg while
Marzan was hurt in his left arm. Eslao poked a Cal. 45 pistol at Marzan. The
two suspects also took the motorcycles of the victims. They are now being
hunted by police.
OFW arrested for adultery in Bangued
BANGUED, Abra – An overseas Filipino worker was arrested here Monday
at Zone 5 for adultery. Nabbed was Julie Mañalac Pilipiña, 38, after
warrant was isued against her by Redentor B. Valera, presiding judge, First
Judicial Region, Municipal Trial Court of Bangued. Bail was set at P12,000 for
the accused’s temporary liberty.
Kagawad surrenders shotgun in Abra
LANIDEN, Abra -- Barangay kagawad Ronel Bringas Abero, 37, of Dalayap
surrendered to Senior Insp. Bob Stephen Lachaona Paguirigan, Monday an
unlicensed Gauge 12 shotgun without serial number and ammunition.
2 men claim lot, destroy fence, coconut seedlings
CONNER, Apayao – Two men claiming to be the real owners of a lot here
recently destroyed perimeter fence made of barbed wire and concrete post
including coconut seedlings planted in the farm allegedly owned by James M
Moyaen, 54 here of Barangay Malama.
Police identified the alleged perpetrators as Ireneo Littawa and
Nario Luban.
Moyaen reportedly confronted the suspects but they insisted they were
the real owners of the land.
Gay beautician dies of cardiac arrest
ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – A gay hair stylist was found dead in his
boarding house here Monday around 6 a.m. Fermin Corpuz Bumanglag of Barangay
Sta. Maria called police informing them his boarder was found dead at the
kitchen. The victim was named as Alesna Garcia Virgilio, 57, of Calao
West, Santiago City, Isabela.
Investigation disclosed that victim was last seen with friends
at about 9 p.m. of Oct. 8 having drinking session. The victim did not join them
since he was suffering chest pain and had difficulty in breathing. Based
on necropsy report of Dr. Laurice Guillen, municipal health officer, the victim
died of cardiac arrest. The victim was injured on his forehead when he fell
down.
The case was considered closed since no sign of struggle or foul play
was noted at the crime scene.
Businesswoman nabbed for estafa
BUGUIAS, Benguet – A
businesswoman was arrested here Tuesday for estafa. Nabbed was Herminia
Sukil-ap Pagaduan, 42, married, of Botiwtiw, Ambiong, La Trinidad, Benguet
after warrant was issued against her by Amparo M. Malinias Espada, presiding
judge of MCTC, Buguias-Bakun, First Judicial Region, Abatan, Buguias, Benguet.
The judge set P10,000 for Pagaduan’s temporary liberty.
Couple riding motorbike hit by taxicab injured
BAGUIO CITY – A certain Renato Cardona Valdez 27 and Dahlia
Cabradilla Robles, 24 were injured when their motorcycle collided with a
taxicab here Monday around 8:40 a.m. driven by Edwin De Luna Benites, 36.
Investigation disclosed the motorcycle headed to Yandoc Street
accidentally collided with the taxi headed to Kisad Road. The victims were
injured and brought by personnel by rescuers to Baguio General Hospital and
Medical Center for treatment. The vehicles were damaged.
3 cheat death as vehicle plunges Kabayan ravine
KABAYAN, Benguet – Three persons cheated death when the vehicle
they were riding in fell down a 30-foot ravine here Oct. 9 around 11:45 a.m.
and was totally wrecked.
A police report said, the village chief of Bashoy told police an hour
later after the vehicular accident at Babalak, Bashoy. Police said the
Mitsubishi (ACU 374) of undisclosed model was owned by Sandy Mayao, Baguista,42
and driven by Arnulfo Alberto Amparo, 56. Their passenger was
identified as Anthony Dupos Baguista, 25. All were residents of Lebeng, Bashoy.
Investigation disclosed the said vehicle was traversing a
two-way portion of Ambangeg-Bashoy Road proceeding towards Bangao. The driver
said the vehicle slipped forward, swerved and lost control ntil it fell down
the ravine and rested left side up. Sandy
and Amparo were brought to Dennis
Molintas Memorial Hospital.
Baguista was not hurt. He said he jumped out from the vehicle when it
started to slip forward. Baguista and Amparo were wounded while the
vehicle was totally wrecked. Police installed a cautionary device to prevent
similar accident.
