Chinese zodiac sculptures unveiled at Baguio park

BAGUIO CITY – Twelve Chinese zodiac sign sculptures were added to the list of attractions at the Filipino-Chinese Friendship Park inside Botanical Garden, courtesy of the Filipino-Chinese community.
The new attraction, made possible by contributions from members of the Filipino-Chinese community, is aimed at further boosting tourism industry and enhancing the beauty of the Botanical Garden.
The beautification project was formally opened to the public during the celebration of the 17th Philippines-China Friendship day last June 9.
Through the “Adopt a Park” program of the city, the local government set aside for adoption a 400 square meter area inside the Botanical garden to the Filipino-Chinese community, which they started to develop.
Conceptualized by Filipino-Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Peter Ng, the garden started to be developed using as a theme Chinese-inspired structures and attractions.
His concept was approved by the local Filipino-Chinese community.
The city government eventually increased the area of the Filipino-Chinese garden to 1,500 square meters, after seeing the sincerity and dedication of the Filipino-Chinese community to continue improving the area.
