Ilocos police nab 1,223 violators in anti-illegal gambling ops

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union — Region 1 police arrested 1,223 for illegal gambling in Ilocos provinces from January to June.
Police filed in court 284 cases related to illegal gambling for the same period.
           Chief Supt. Romulo E. Sapitula, regional police director, said his men on the ground conducted simultaneous anti-illegal gambling operations in  Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union and Pangasinan.
For the four-day anti-illegal gambling operations on June 15-18, the operating police officers arrested 123 violators.
On the latest anti-illegal gambling operations in the region, the police officers have arrested seven in Ilocos Norte, 12 in Ilocos Sur, 80 in La Union and 24 in Pangasinan.
The cops conducted 36 anti-illegal gambling operations and have confiscated bet money amounting to P19, 548.00.
Sapitula said the massive crackdown on illegal gambling is part of the Police Regional Office 1 initiative to stop illegal gambling in Region 1 in response to the President Duterte’s directive to end illegal gambling in the country.
