Principal, daughter survive Bokod crash


BOKOD, Benguet – A school principal and her daughter escaped death although both suffered injuries when the vehicle the former was driving rammed parapets here due to faulty brakes.
Police said the accident happened around 11:10 a.m. of August 26 at km 317 of the Benguet-Nueva Vizcaya national road boundary Pito.
The report said PO3 Edgar Beroso received a call informing him of the accident making cops rush to the area and found the ill-fated Pajero, bearing license plate number RDF 744 driven by Junaria
Singangan Dio-al, 46, married.
On board was her daughter Joana Mae S. Dio-al, 10, student.
According to the victim's husband Michael Dio-al, his wife and daughter came from Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya going home to Pito to attend a scheduled mass.
His wife revealed to him that she was driving at low speed when she noticed that the brake was malfunctioning.
She repeatedly applied the brake attempting to stop, however at a curve, the vehicle rammed concrete parapets and stopped.
The vehicle incurred heavy damages. Ms Dio-al and her daughter were both brought to Lt. Tidang Memorial Hospital in Kayapa by a concerned traveler for treatment.
The victims suffered contusions, hematoma and lacerations.
Later, they were referred to Benguet General
Hospital, La Trinidad, Benguet by Dr. Imnas Lagundi for treatment.
