TESDA-CAR holds gab for info officers


LOAKAN, Baguio City--The Technical Education Skills and Development Authority- Cordillera Administrative Region recently conducted a 2-day training for provincial information officers to enhance their capability to market its programs and services to their clients.
              "We have so many programs and services that we failed to market to the public," said engineer Manuel B. Wong, acting regional director on the sidelines of the news and feature writing workshop. 
There were 17 participants from provincial offices: three in Abra; two in Baguio-Benguet, two in Ifugao, one in Kalinga; three in Mountain Province and six from TESDA technology institutions.
He said that the event will enable information officers in providing information, programs and services to the public.
"The workshop focused on effective news article writing and bringing the service closer to the public through press releases," he said.
               Wong emphasized the need for IOs to be trained in improving the image of the government.
The said training was in line with TESDA Secretary Isidro Lapena directive in providing quality information, programs and services to the public.
Philippine News Agency- Baguio bureau chief Liza Agoot, who served as the resource speaker, told participants that writing is a continuous learning process which requires effort and patience.
 Among the topics discussed were: story angling, journalism ethics, significant events organization, proper way of obtaining information.
