BANGUED,
Abra -- Inspired from a fresh mandate, re-elected Governor Maria Jocelyn “Joy”
Bernos vowed to deliver improved programs for Abrenians.
Following her oath
taking administered by League of Barangays Vice President Chavit Castro, Bernos
committed to deliver her JOY HELPS program in a better, expanded and improved
manner for the next three years.
The
JOY HELPS program which stands for Health, Education, Livelihood Projects,
Programs and other Social services is the Governor’s guide of
service to the Abrenians.
“For the next three
years, we will be bolder, better and more aggressive public servants. You will
witness a more prominent, deliberate and inclusive services for everyone,”
Bernos said.
She
also vowed to go beyond what she has accomplished during her
first term.
Among her main
priorities is to uplift the nutritional status of Abra through a
new livelihood program called “Food for the Table.”
One of the
strategies in bringing the government closer to local communities especially to
far flung areas of the province is the “People’s Day” movement which mobilizes
all national government agencies and provincial offices to offer their services
to a particular barangay twice a month.
The Governor is also up
to the challenge of changing the image of Abra as a peaceful province and
a center of tourism of the solid north.
She counts on the
support of Vice-Governor Ronald Balao-as and the eight elected Board of Members
who took their oath of office before her, to be her partners
in delivering better programs for their people. (JDP/CAGT-PIA CAR, Abra)
