P107-M bridge to link Cagayan with NL provs

PIAT, Cagayan -- The P107.6-million Aquib-Dugayong Bridge here is now finished and will link Cagayan with Northern Luzon provinces.
This was disclosed by the Department of Public Works and Highways which announced Monday the completion of the 285-linear meter bridge that started construction in July 2017.
Wilzon Valdez, spokesperson of DPWH in Region 2, said the Aquib-Dugayong Bridge will serve as a vital link of the Pilgrimage Center of Cagayan Valley Piat town with barangays in the municipalities of Rizal, Sto. Niño and Tuao.
It will also shorten the travel time for motorists and boosting economic development in the area.
Valdez noted that the project involved the construction of 19 spans for the bridge, with 127-meter approaches on both ends. The development also includes a concrete slope protection, embankment, and grouted riprap.
The superstructure consists of reinforced concrete deck girder resting on 32 bored piles foundation.
“This is a durable, life-changing bridge that will benefit all the residents in the area as it will improve accessibility and movement of goods and services,” said Region 2 Director Melanio Briosos.
The project implemented by the Cagayan Second District Engineering Office will definitely be good news to devotees traveling to Basilica Minore of Our Lady of Piat, he added.
