Female who sneaks in shabu in Benguet jail 1 in 5 nabbed in drug ops

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Five drug suspects were arrested in buy-bust operations in Benguet recently, one of them, a female visitor at the Benguet provincial jail who tried to sneak in shabu inside the correctional facility.  

Alfredo Bautista Bugay, 26, vegetable purchaser and a resident of Sta Lucia, Bataan was arrested in Betag, La Trindad, Benguet Jan. 10 while Jesus David Canlas, 30, carrot washer, of km 5, Pico, also in La Trinidad was arrested at Trading Post, Km 5, Pico on Jan. 9.

 One plastic sachet of suspected shabu, cell phone and P1,000 buy-bust money was seized from Bugay while a Samsung G7 cell phone and P1, 000 buy-bust money were taken from Canlas.

Another suspect identified as Marvin B Cudlas, 36, farmer of Lon-oy San Gabriel La Union was caught in Bekes, Buyacaoan, Buguias, Benguet Jan. 9, 2020 while Roy Dao-Asen Salaya, 26, was apprehended in his residence at Kalinga Village, Purok 14, Irisan, Baguio City on Jan. 7.

 Evidence taken from Cudlas were plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, P1,000 buy-bust money while a plastic sachet containing suspected shabu, marked money and a cell phone were seized from Salaya.

A female drug carrier was arrested at Benguet Provincial Jail, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Jan. 11 after she was caught in possession of a suspected shabu inserted and sawn in her headband.

Suspect Lady Josel Ronquillo, 28, sales lady, of Gail Street, Nepo Subdivision, Cutcut, Angeles City was a listed visitor of one of the detainees inside the jail.

 All arrested suspects are now under the custody of concerned operating units while appropriate charges were filed against them in court for violation of Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
