BONTOC, Mountain Province – The public is
urged to register as the new round of voter’s registration already started on
Jan. 20 and will run until Sept. 30.
According to Election Officer lawyer Rodante Selpaten, the voter’s
registration covers reactivation of registration records of those whose names
were deactivated for failure to validate or failure to vote twice in the
preceding two elections; correction of wrong entries in the registration
records or change of name and/ or marital status because of marriage or court
order; transfer of registration records; and updating of registration records
of person with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens and indigenous
people.
A
registrant must bring a copy of any valid identification card/ document,
showing proof of residence and minimum age requirement, such as identification
cards (IDs) of school, postal, passport, company, Social Security System (SSS),
Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program
(4Ps), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance, driver’s license,
birth certificate, marriage contract except barangay clearance/ID, and
community tax certificate.
The
registration should be done personally at the Office of the Election Officer of
Bontoc, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays to Saturdays, including holidays.
The Office of the Election Officer of Bontoc is located in the basement
of the Bontoc Municipal Capitol.
However, there will be no voter’s registration on April 9 -10,
(Maundy Thursday and Good Friday); Dec. 25 (Christmas Day), Jan. 1(New Year);
and April 1-2, 2021 (Maundy Thursday and Good Friday).
Those
qualified to register as new voters are Filipino citizens who are at least 18
years of age on or before Election Day on May 9, 2022, who have been a resident
in the Philippines for at least one year and have been living in the place
where they intend to vote for at least six months.
As
of this writing, records from the Office of the Election Officer shows that
there are 14, 575 registered voters in Bontoc.
Of the total, the highest number of voters is in Barangay Bontoc Ili
with 2,843; Alab Oriente – 362; Alab Proper – 526; Balili – 254; Bayyo – 349;
Poblacion – 1,540; Caluttit – 1,414; Caneo -361; Dalican- 590; Gonogon – 485;
Guina-ang – 976; Mainit -809; Maligcong – 543; Samoki – 1,482; and Talubin –
1,256.
