MP dialysis patients receive cash raised from walking event

By Erwin S. Batnag

BONTOC, Mountain Province – Thirty five kidney patients undergoing dialysis treatment here at the Bontoc General Hospital (BoGH) received cash assistance from the provincial government on July 21.
Gov. Bonifacio C. Lacwasan, Jr. handed P 2,598 each to the beneficiaries.
The distribution of cash aid was witnessed by provincial health officer  Carolyn D. Yawan, BoGH supervising administrative officer Nitz Lampac and GAD head Joecan L. Basan.
The cash assistance came from proceeds of the walk for a cause that was organized by the provincial government’s Gender and Development Council as part of this year’s Women’s Day celebration last March.
“The amount maybe small but we hope that it will lessen your burden and will at least help you as you undergo your treatment,” Lacwasan said. “We, your officials will do what we can to continue improve the services of our hospital. We are also praying that this current health crisis will pass so that we can easily find ways and means to help you.” According to Lampac, the charity event generated P90,930 equally distributed to the identified dialysis patients.
Recipients expressed their appreciation and gratitude to the provincial government for organizing charity events to help them.
“The amount will help us a lot. I will use the money for my fare in coming to the hospital during my dialysis schedule,” one recipient said.
