BAGUIO CITY - - The
Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) announced that payout for
the second tranche of the Social Amelioration Program (SAP) in Baguio City and
Benguet is now ongoing.
DSWD – CAR
Regional Director Leo Quintilla, in a media forum Thursday, said
around 98,490 qualified family beneficiaries in Baguio City and
Benguet will receive the P5,500 SAP second tranche financial
subsidy with a total allocation of P381,210,500.
Baguio City
and Benguet are the only areas in Cordillera that are eligible for the SAP
second tranche as they were under extended Enhanced Community
Quarantine from May 1 to 15, 2020. Under the guidelines, the
SAP second tranche is provided to qualified
beneficiaries in areas under ECQ.
For the cash
subsidy payout, 69,311 beneficiaries will receive their SAP subsidy through
Financial Service Providers (FSP) -PayMaya for Baguio City, G-Cash and Star Pay
for Benguet. They will receive information on how and where they can get their
cash subsidy from the phone number that they have registered, Quintilla said.
He informed
that 29,179 beneficiaries will get their subsidy through direct payout to be
conducted by DSWD – CAR, in coordination with local government units and
partner agencies. Direct payout is now being conducted for the Benguet
municipalities of Bakun, Kabayan and Sablan.
About 4,704
families in Baguio City and Benguet under the SAP “waitlisted” are
also eligible for the second tranche, and DSWD – CAR is now working for their
SAP fund allocation.
Quintilla
advised the SAP family beneficiaries to spend their cash subsidy wisely,
reiterating that the assistance generally aims to help on the essential needs
of the beneficiaries during this time of community quarantine.
With the
August 24 scheduled opening of classes, Quintilla also advised the SAP beneficiaries
to save or use some of the cash subsidy for the needs of their school children.
