BAGUIO CITY -- One hundred five Cordillera youth graduated from the Youth Entrepreneurship Program (YEP) of the Dept. of Trade and Industry and set to do business.
In a mix of face to face and virtual activity on Dec. 4, the 15 young entrepreneurs from Baguio City and each of from provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga and Mountain Province graduated from the YEP program.
Fifteen joined “business online” by DTI partner investors and funding institutions.
DTI – Cordillera regional director Myrna Pablo, in her message during the pitch competition and graduation ceremony, said the YEP was a nationwide program to help young Filipinos develop entrepreneurial skills through comprehensive package of interventions.
“It supports the government’s growth agenda of doubling the number of the entrepreneurs in the country by 2022, which will in turn broaden the gains of economic development, address inequality and uplift the quality of life of Filipinos particularly the youth,” Pablo said.
DTI – CAR assistant regional director Juliet Lucas said for the youth entrepreneurship program and itching competition, the regional YEP participants took in for modules business model canvass, business continuity planning, website and video marketing and business pitching workshop, to provide experience and engage youth participants in
entrepreneurship.
Pitching competition objective was to help participants expand or apacitate youth entrepreneurs in forging strategic partnerships that will make their business expand and connect them with industry leaders and investors that will help them stretch the boundaries of the business, Lucas added.
After graduation, the 105 youth entrepreneurs will be mainstreamed to the DTI regular programs as part of the strategy of ensuring the sustainability of their business operations. – PIA Cordillera
