3 Kalinga villages isolated; Covid up

TINGLAYAN, Kalinga --Three barangays in this upland town of the province were placed under a 15-day lockdown due to sudden surge in Covid-19 confirmed cases.
Dept. of Interior and Local Government provincial director Mayer Adong said the barangays of Bangad Centro, Upper Bangad and Lower Bangad were totally locked down Nov. 23 to Dec. 8 for contact tracing.
Based on the Covid-19 Provincial Inter-agency Task Force record, the three barangays had 23 new confirmed Covid-19 cases last week.
The cases were traced from two Covid-19 confirmed cases, mine workers from Benguet who recently came home to Bangad, Adong reported.
The 23 were isolated at a public school temporarily being used as quarantine and treatment facility.
The  new cases brought to  325 the province’s total number of Covid-19 confirmed cases with 276 recovered, 49 active and one  death.
Adong said the provincial IATF is raising through the bayanihan system P3 million for relief support to some 414 families or at least 2,500 residents affected by the lockdown in the said barangays.
The residents were urged to observe minimum health protocols to prevent the further transmission of Covid-19. – PIA Kalinga
