CITY – The City Health Service Office here reported another death related
to Covid-19, 39 new cases, and 14 recoveries on Wednesday.
The CHSO said a 64-year-old female was dead on arrival at the hospital due to ruptured aortic aneurysm on Dec.15.
A post mortem swab test yielded positive results for Covid-19.
The city has a total of nine deaths, 455 cases, and 356 recoveries from Dec.1 to 16, bringing the total number of deaths to 50 or 1.44%, active cases to 276 or 7.96%, and recoveries to 3,143 or 90.60% from the 3,469 confirmed cases since March.
Of the new cases, the CHSO said 28 were symptomatic while four were contact traced, three through expanded testing, and five others from testings done at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center and Parkway and Diagnostic Center.
In the nearby province of Benguet, the Provincial Health Office reported 25 new cases, nine of which came from the mining town of Itogon; eight from Mankayan; seven from La Trinidad, and one from Tuba, bringing the total to 500 active cases in the province.
Itogon Mayor Victor Palangdan reported that in the seven-day Aggressive Community Testing (ACT) from Dec.10 to 16, the town recorded 15 recoveries and 31 new cases who were close contacts of previously confirmed cases, resulting in 44 active cases from a total of 258 collected swab samples.
Palangdan said ACT will continue until Dec.18 on all food and non-food establishment personnel and PUJ/tricycle drivers.
In the mining town of Mankayan, eight new cases were recorded when ACT was conducted by the Bases Conversion Development Authority (BCDA) and the National Task Force following the request of Mayor Frenzel Ayong for mass testing on the 4,500 residents, especially miners, due to increasing cases of Covid-19.
Ayong said the tests continued until Thursday at the three testing sites in Lepanto CPJ complex, Upper Sapid gym and Plaza gym Poblacion targeting 927 residents.
