"We have been observing that health protocols are not strictly followed during relief distributions, thereby contributing to the rise of Covid-19 cases in the city," Soriano said.

To stop rise of Covid-19 cases in the city, the mayor decided to temporarily suspend distribution of relief goods up to Dec. 21 or conditions will improve.

He said humanitarian aid brought to the city shall be stored in the meantime at the Relief Operation Center at the city's gymnasium.
