5 NPA guerillas yield in Ifugao, Abra, Benguet

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Five New People’s Army guerillas recently surrendered to Cordillera authorities on May 27-28. 
    In Ifugao, a 54-year old farmer known as "Puhlek" under Casimiro Binayon  of the dismantled Nona Del Rosario Command,  surrendered after  series of dialogues with Ifugao Police and  54th IB, 5th ID of the Philippine Army. 
    Puhlek turned over a Cal. 357 with two bullets, after which he was brought to the Second Ifugao PMFC for debriefing. 
    In Abra, two  members of the NPA identified only as "Bonnie", 63  "Warden",65,  surrendered to police and 24th IB, 7th ID of the Philippine Army in Manabo, and Sallapadan, Abra respectively. 
    "Bonnie" turned over 12-gauge firearm and was interviewed at Manabo police station while "Warden" was turned over to Sallapadan police. 
    Meanwhile, Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee handed over cash assistance and bags of groceries to two other rebel returnees after flag-raising ceremony here at regional police headquarters in Camp Dangwa on May 31.
    “Diego” and “Javier” were presented and turned-over their firearms, ammunition and a fragmentation grenade to Lee.
    Both were reportedly under the KLG-Abra, Mountain Province and Ilocos Sur (KLG-AMPIS) of the Ilocos-Cordillera Regional Committee.
    Surrendered last May 27 at Benguet police provincial office after 15 years of hiding.
    All surrenderees will avail of “Enhanced comprehensive local integration program” (E-CLIP) wherein they will be oriented for reintegration to the community and will be receiving livelihood program and cash aid from government.
