Baguio tourist arrivals up; Covid rules bared

BAGUIO CITY - - Visitors coming to Baguio increased this June.
City Tourism Officer Aloysius “Alec” Mapalo, in media forum, reported an increasing trend in tourist arrivals in Baguio with 1,400 visitors recorded in the first week and 2,978 for the second week of June.
Mapalo attributed the increase to lifting of travel restriction in the NCR Plus Bubble, as well as the Tourism Promotions Board – subsidized antigen test being offered to tourists at discounted price of P350 at the triage area at Baguio Convention Center.
“Many people are already bored and eager to travel and even despite it is already the rainy season, they still want to experience the cold weather in Baguio,” Mapalo said.
For tourists or leisure travelers, the city government requires them to register at the www.visita.baguio.gov.phfor their QTP pass (at least 24 hours before travelling in). negative RT – PCR, antigen or saliva test in the past 72 hours is also required before entering.
Under Baguio’s travel guidelines, tourists can either book at  DOT- accredited hotels and accommodations or stay with their relatives or friends and  they need to declare the full name, address and contact number for monitoring purposes.
They can also be a one - day visitor that will not stay overnight in the city.
Mapalo   urged visitors to follow minimum public standards and safety protocols which are being strictly being implemented in the city.
