Cordi DepEd execs push vaccination of workers



LA TRINIDAD, Benguet -- The Department of Education Cordillera urged its teachers, non-teaching personnel and other staff to get vaccinated against Covid-19.
    “We would like to encourage all our teachers regardless where you are, what is your position, as long as you work in the DepEd get vaccinated because it is not only a matter of protecting your personal lives but it is also a matter of protecting the lives and health of the children you are in contact with, your family, and other stakeholders such as the parents that visit you in school and the DepEd as a whole,” said DepEd-CAR assistant regional director Florante Vergara during recent media forum.
    With the DepEd celebrating its 123rd founding anniversary, he said being vaccinated is the best gift teachers and other staff could give to themselves and to the DepEd.  
     “Please take the opportunity to be vaccinated, we have to be vaccinated. Whatever is your vaccine brand, at least you are protected),” said Cordillera DepEd regional director Estela Cariño.
    Cariño, who was inoculated with Sinovac vaccine as she belongs to the A3 category, asked personnel not to be choosy of the vaccines and get what is available in their local government units.
    Health authorities have assured all   Food and Drug Administration –approved vaccines are safe and effective.
     As of June 9, more than 800 DepEd-CAR personnel were inoculated with Covid-19 vaccines, said Dr. Angeline Calatan, DepEd-CAR medical officer.
    DepEd-CAR has more than 20,000 teaching and non-teaching personnel assigned in the region.
    Calatan said the DepEd launched Vacc2School: Ligtas na Bakuna, Para sa Balik-Eskwela! campaign for its teaching and non-teaching personnel in  support to  the vaccination roll out of the government.
     Vacc2School campaign aims to inform DepEd stakeholders in promoting vaccination drive and other related policies to against -19.
    The campaign was also contextualized to support the BIDA Solusyon Plus sa Covid-19 campaign of the Dept. of Health in the education sector. –PIA Cordillera
