Retired cop, driver, farmer nabbed for illegal guns, bullets

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – A retired cop, driver and farmer was arrested in Abra, Ifugao and Kalinga last week for illegal possession of guns and bullets.  
    In Abra, the 66-year old retired cop was arrested following search warrant issued against him in Barangay Categdacan, Manabo town on June 24.
    Based on reports submitted to Cordillera police director Brig Gen. Ronald Oliver Lee, the suspect was identified as Primitivo C. Fontanilla.
    Confiscated from his house were two Cal. 45 handguns, Cal. 38 pistol and several bullets for.
    Arresting officers were elements from Criminal Investigation and Detection Group-Abra, RIU 14, Manabo police and 144th Special Action Company of the PNP SAF.
    In Kalinga, a driver  was apprehended at a quarantine checkpoint at Ikker, Bugnay, Tinglayan also on June 24 for an illegal gun.
    The suspect was identified as Ronald Ittiw Chumil-Ang, 30, driver by profession.
Chumil-ang who was driving a motorcycle was flagged down by police noticing that he was under the influence of liquor.
    Police saw a gun in the suspect’s half-opened sling bag.
    Seized from him were a Cal. 45 pistol and several bullets.
    The suspect failed to present documents for the gun which prompted the police to arrest him.
    In Ifugao, a farmer was also apprehended for possessing an illegal gun following implementation of a search warrant at Sitio Lawigan, Bangaan in Banaue town on June 25.
    The suspect was identified as Grandy Dumol Na-od, 38,  resident of the area.
    Arresting officer included elements from CIDG, Ifugao police, regional intelligence and SAF troopers.
    Confiscated from Dumol was a Cal. 9mm handgun loaded with a bullet.
    The search was conducted in the presence of Roger B. Dumol, barangay kagawad and Ernesto Tumapang, Bangaan village chief.
    All suspects are now facing charges for violation of Republic 10591 known as “Comprehensive firearms and ammunition regulation Act.”
