BONTOC, Mountain Province – The municipality of Bontoc
ranked 13th place in the nationwide “most improved” 1st – 2nd class
municipalities for the cities and municipalities competitiveness index (CCMI)
2021.
The CCMI is an annual ranking of Philippine cities and municipalities developed by the National Competitiveness Council through regional competitiveness committees (RCCs) with assistance of the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) to stimulate friendly competition among local government units (LGUs).
Bontoc Mayor Franklin Odsey and CMCI point person Karen Lumiwes received the plaque of recognition from Dept. of Trade and Industry provincial director Mabel Banggawan March 14 at Bontoc municipal capitol grounds.
The plaque to Bontoc LGU was conferred by the DTI and the Dept. of Interior and Local Government (DILG).
PD Banggawan said ranking of the cities and municipalities is based on the sum of their score on four pillars to include economic dynamism, government efficiency, infrastructure, and resiliency.
Odsey expressed his gratitude to the DTI and DILG for the recognition and credited the award to partner stakeholders and people of Bontoc.
“Whatever gains Bontoc had, it is because we have worked together. Whatever challenges lie ahead, I am confident that Bontoc will pull through, overcome, and continue to rise,” Odsey said.
