42 wanted persons nabbed in Cordillera

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police recently arrested a total of 42 wanted persons in Cordillera. 
    Two most wanted persons were arrested in Cordillera on April 12 including three others in different occasions.
    Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified suspects as Ricky Binuloc Gunnawa, 29 of Nambaran, Tabuk City, Kalinga and Josie Sajonas Colom, 75, of Kayang Extension, Baguio City.
Gunnawa, was arrested by Tabuk police following arrest warrant issued against him for violation of Republic Act 9262 or Anti-    Violence Against Women and their Children Act of 2004.
    Meanwhile, another warrant was issued against Colom for estafa resulting to her arrest.
    This, as a freelancer and a minor were caught in buy-bust operations in Baguio and Benguet on April 12.
    Lee identified suspects as Flordeliz Molines, 40 and a 17-year-old male minor.
    Flordeliz was arrested by Irisan and Kennon Road police including personnel from Regional PNP Drug Enforcement Unit after he sold suspected shabu weighing 0.5 grams worth P3,400 to a lawman who acted as buyer.
    Meanwhile, the 17-year-old male minor was arrested by La Trinidad police, RPDEU, and PDEA personnel after he sold suspected shabu weighing 0.3 grams worth P2,040 also to a cop.
    Inventory of confiscated items was witnessed by representatives from the Dept. of Justice, media and elected barangay officials.
    Charges were filed in court against the suspects.
    Earlier from April 3-9, police also arrested 37 wanted persons.
    The Regional Investigation and Detective Management Division said Baguio police recorded the highest number of arrests with 15 followed by Benguet with 8, Abra, 6; Kalinga, 5 and Ifugao with 3 during the time frame.
    Fifteen most wanted persons were arrested.
    Aljon Linan was arrested for rape; Abner Baligod for carnapping and Marvin Salay also for rape.
    Jonas Atencio was nabbed for violation of anti-trafficking in person; Jhoemar Raposas for rape; and Evelyn Bravo for theft.
    Gerald Camungao was nabbed for violation of Republic Act 9262 or the Anti-Violence against Women and their Children Act and Jovie Villora for frustrated homicide.
    Filber Mendoza was apprehended for theft, Victoria Oligo for child abuse, Ricky Manlapas, for lasciviousness and rape, Martin     Rimas for frustrated homicide,  Rosalyn Ferrerfor violation of National Internal Revenue Code; Geronimo, Rivera for theft and Eugene Fernandez for robbery.

15 nabbed in Cordillera, P5.5-M marijuana seized

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police nabbed 16 drug suspects and confiscated total of P5,527,000 worth of marijuana from April 3 to April 9.
    The regional police Operations Division said Baguio CPO had the highest number of arrests with 11 followed by Kalinga with three and Benguet and Apayao with one each.
    In Baguio City, arrested were Alexander Dayawon, 52; Jomar Gamboa, 25; Elton John Cawas, 24; Froniel Jack Basa, 34; Eric Sacyafen, 50; Armando Estela Jr., 42; Vicente Sapguian Jr., 36; Mark Morales, 34; James Calventas, 36 and Rolly Carranza, 25.
    Meanwhile, nabbed in Kalinga were Christian Tercero, 23; Billy Domingo, 28 and Vincent Donggalob, 17.
    In Benguet and Apayao, arrested were Noel Figaeroa, 26, and Chester Mark Dutoc, 25.
    Separate buy-bust operations resulted in seizure of 16.1525 grams of suspected shabu worth P109,837, some 7006 grams of dried marijuana leaves and stalks worth P840,720 and 585 ml of marijuana oil valued at P29,250.
    All suspects are facing charges for illegal drugs.
    Meanwhile, marijuana eradication drive in Kibungan, Benguet led to destruction of 3,910 pieces of fully grown marijuana plants  worth P782,000 and 6,000 grams of marijuana stalks valued at P720,000.
    In Tulgao West, Kalinga, a total of 10,500 pieces of marijuana plants worth P2,100,000, another 15,000 grams of dried marijuana leaves worth P1,800,000  and 5,000 grams of marijuana seeds worth P125,000 were destroyed by police.


Kalinga newshen robbed of motor- cycle at gunpoint

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- A female staff of Guru Press Cordillera was held at gun point around 7a.m. on April 16 at the old police substation here in Barangay Ipil by two unidentified riders who took her motorcycle, cell phone and wallet.
The staff, who was not identified, said while she was traversing the area, she was cut off by the riders in tinted helmet, one wearing a gray shirt and the other a black jacket.
When she stopped, the one in gray took out a gun and pointed it at her temple.
She pleaded with them not to harm her but she was pushed to the ground and they left taking the motorcycle.
The motorcycle was a newly released black and red XRM Honda.
“Nu adda impormasyon panggep kadagiti karnapper bagaan yo lang dagiti pulis wennu otoridad (If you have any information on the matter, please inform the police,)” the victim said in a Facebook post. 


Councilman, 6 held over cockfighting in P’sinan

SAN CARLOS CITY, Pangasinan — A barangay councilman and six others were apprehended for their alleged involvement in ‘tupada’ (Illegal cock fighting )in Brgy Pangalangan, San Carlos City on Thursday.
    Virgilio Mondares, 61, councilman of Brgy Pangalangan, San Carlos City, along with Romy Ventura, 50, Ernesto Benitez, 63, pot maker; Dionisio De Guzman, 69, Marlon Soriano, 43, a construction worker, and Elmar Jimenez, 20, vendor, were arrested for taking part in the illegal cockfighting.
    The Pangasinan Provincial Police Office reported it had confiscated one live fighting cock, four dead fighting cocks, one gaff and money bets of different denominations amounting to P1750.
    Suspect will be charged with Violation of PD 1602 (Anti- illegal gambling operation) and violation of PD 449 (Cockfighting Law).
    Meanwhile, Police authorities in San Carlos City arrested a certain Sam Rondulos in a checkpoint and confiscated two heat-sealed transparent sachets of suspected shabu around 2:00 p.m. on April 14.
