Mt Province cops train for emergencies

BONTOC, Mountain Province -- A total of 55 police officers from police stations of Mountain Province completed their 5-day emergency response training on April 22.
    The training was facilitated by the provincial police headquarters in partnership with Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) and Philippine National Red Cross - Mt. Province Chapter.
    The training started April 18 and ended April 22 in simple ceremony at Bontoc Multi-purpose Hall.
    The training included principles of emergency care, the human body, introduction to basic life support, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation (CPR), automated external defibrillator (AED) and foreign body airway (FBAO) management.
    Aside from the lectures, participants also underwent demonstrations and practical exercises on bandaging, splinting, extrication, mass casualty incidents response and triaging.
    In his message, provincial police director Col. Ruben Andiso cited importance of the training in performance of official duty and during emergencies.
    The emergency responder’s training aimed to equip police officers with  knowledge and skills necessary in crisis management to ensure their preparedness in all types of emergencies.
