More modern PUVs to ply Baguio roads

BAGUIO CITY -- Nineteen brand new jeepneys will be plying along Aurora Hill, Trancoville, and Lourdes-Dominican in this summer capital.
Jude Wall of the Cordillera Basic Sectors Transport Cooperative (CBSTC) said the new units are additional to the 30 units of jeepneys operating in the city.
“We continue encouraging jeepney operators to avail of the PUV Modernization Program (PUVMP) of the government,” Wall said.
Mayor Benjie Magalong who is supporting transportation modernization said the jeepneys will help in decongestion of traffic in the city.
With new engine and body design, the jeepney will help in lowering carbon emission and give public commuters safe and enjoyable ride.
The national government implemented the PUV modernization program that aims to improve the urban quality of life, reduce economic losses due to time lost in travel, reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and improve the economic situation of the operators and industry by improving service quality levels.
