2 fishmen missing in Ilocos Sur waters

CAMP PRESIDENT QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur – Two fishermen from Barangay Apatot, San Esteban, this province, were reported missing on Tuesday, Sept. 5, after they failed to return home from a fishing trip to the West Philippines Sea (WPS) on Sunday, Sept. 3.
    Police identified the missing fishermen as Ronie Baldeviso, 41 and Mark Anthony Egar, 27.
    The two fishermen left at about 1 a.m. on board an orange and avocado green motor banca with body No. ILS-10-78 and markings Coline Kaezy/Ron Justine.
    Police said they were expected to return home on the same day from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. but failed to return as of Tuesday.
    Baldeviso was described as 5'7", fair complexion, wearing a long-sleeved gray shirt, while Egar is 5'5" with fair complexion, wearing a black shirt and a blue jacket.
    Police said other fishermen were searching for them in coordination with the Maritime Group, Philippine Coast Guard, and San Esteban municipal rescue personnel.
    Meanwhile, a fisherman, Pepito Carera, 37, a resident of Barangay Ilocanos Sur, San Fernando, La Union, was rescued by fishermen in Barangay Nangalisan, Santa Lucia, Ilocos Sur on Monday, Sept. 4. 
    Carera reportedly went fishing but failed to return home when the engine of his motor banca had mechanical trouble.
