NEDA-CAR: Support dev’t policy research

By Jose V. Costales Jr.

The National Economic and Development Authority-Cordillera Administrative Region (NEDA-CAR) celebrates and calls for support to the 21st Development Policy Research Month (DPRM) this September.
Affirming the role of research in development policy, the NEDA Regional Office (NRO) will conduct various advocacy and knowledge-sharing activities in collaboration with the Philippine Institute for Development Studies (PIDS) such as posting of social media information and reference materials. Online program and activity updates will be posted at the NEDA Regional Office Cordillera Facebook Page.
The activities will focus on the theme, "Going Green and Digital for a More Sustainable, Inclusive, and Prosperous Future for All", or in Filipino, “Maging Makalikasan at Digital para sa Higit na Matatag, Ingklusibo, at Masaganang Kinabukasan para sa Lahat”. This highlights the importance of the interconnected processes of green transition and digitalization—or the twin transition—to build back better and stronger after the COVID-19 pandemic and achieve the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.
The twin transition is consistent with the Cordillera Regional Development Plan (RDP) 2023-2028 toward an economic and social transformation for a prosperous, inclusive, and resilient Cordillera.
Specifically, the strategies that allow the transition to a low-carbon economy is one of the enabling environments included in the Plan. Also, digitalization in the productive sector and governance systems is embedded in the RDP.
The DRPM is celebrated annually and underscores the need to promote, enhance, instill, and draw awareness and appreciation on the importance and necessity of policy research in development planning and policymaking. It also aims to improve the public's awareness and understanding of significant socioeconomic issues.
The PIDS is an attached agency of NEDA, which serves as the lead of the DPRM 2023.
