GAPAN, Nueva Ecija – An alleged Basag Kotse Gang member was killed in an encounter with policemen in Barangay Santo Cristo Norte here Wednesday, Dec. 20.
Lawmen conducting an “Oplan: Sita” operation flagged down a man identified as alias “Mulangaw,” 31, driving a motorcycle when they noticed a firearm tucked in his waist.
The suspect fled, prompting a pursuit that ended in Barangay Santo Cristo Norte when lawmen were able to block his path.
Mulangaw, instead of surrendering, fired at policemen who retaliated and killed him.
Recovered in the area were guns with bullets, 10 fired 9mm cartridge cases, four heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu, identification cards (IDs), and the motorcycle.
Police said Mulangaw was engaged in a series of smash and steal incidents in cars and operates in the province of Bulacan, Gapan City, and neighboring areas.
Despite his death, police proceeded to file illegal drugs, illegal possession of firearms, and attempted murder cases against the suspect.
