BY GEORGE TRILLO

CAMP GENERAL ALEJO SANTOS, Bulacan — A 48-year-old policeman was ambushed and killed by more or less four unidentified armed men morning of Nov. 13 in Barangay Sto. Niño of Paombong town, this province. In his report to Central Luzon Regional Police Office director Chief Supt. Errol Pan, Senior Supt. Alen Bantolo, newly designated Bulacan police director, identified the victim as P03 Bernabe Tayson Ramos, married, assigned at the Bulacan town police station, and residing in Barangay San Sebastian, Hagonoy, Bulacan.

Investigation conducted by the office of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Team in Malolos City led by its chief, Supt. Ritchie Posadas, and the Bulacan provincial investigation and intelligence office, said Ramos was gunned down while he was driving his owner-type jeep on the way to report for work.

The four unidentified men, armed with high-power firearms and wearing bonnets, alighted from a Toyota Corolla vehicle colored dark gray at the Sto Nino bridge and sprayed his vehicle with bullets. The victim bore multiple gunshot wounds in the chest, stomach and different parts of the body that caused his instantaneous death. Police believed that an old grudge was the motive behind the ambush, although they did not elaborate. Recovered from the crime scene were 20 M-16 Armalite bullet shells.
