BULL’S HIT

A star witness
RUDY GARCIA

The latest star witness of the controversial ZTE NBN deal probe Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada Jr. who is the former president of Philippine Forest Corporation is now enjoying his tag as superstar witness. Every Juan Dela Cruz is now aware who this person is and Philcorp or Philippine Forest Corp. is now becoming popular courtesy of Mr. Lozada’s mileage in media.

Following his alleged “kidnapping” at Ninoy Aquino International Airport, he was released because of the noise created by the public and the media. He held a press con, appeared before the Senate and made his fearless exposes implicating top government and lately the NBI raid of his former office at Philcorp.

First, it was Joey de Venecia III who blew the first whistle and amid De Venecia’s expose, former Comelec chairman Benjamin Abalos was constrained to resign while other government officials affected by his expose remain in their offices despite public outcry for their resignation.

Romulo Neri for one even made executive privilege as his shield to avoid the senate in forcing him to talk further. And while it was true that he was issued a warrant of arrest by the state, Neri found his life-saving buddies at the Supreme Court and at the Department of Justice, so his warrant could be moot or academic.

Meanwhile, Jose De Venecia, father of whistle blower Joey De V, and the speaker of the House of Representatives was booted out as a speaker by some of his colleagues and Prospero Nograles took over his position. Since then, another ZTE probe witness surfaced in the person of Jun Lozada who dropped lots of “bombshells” before the senate. His exposes caused some of those officials and their spin masters to panic. They now look like fishes trapped on their own mouths inside an aquarium.

With lots of Juan Dela Cruzes throwing their support for Lozada, it can be said that we are at least going somewhere. After all there are new twists of events in every game. It is now a regret on my part to be saying that there is nothing new. Now, we still have the chance and we hope the more would stand up and be counted.

Now, the news headlines – “NBI raids former office of ZTE star witness Rodolfo “Jun” Lozada Jr. at Philippine Forest Corp.” I don’t know that the NBI has changed its view, I may call them now, National Broadband Infiltrators.
***
“Senator Joker Arroyo unapologetic for his outburst in Senate NBN probe.” The old senator wants to prove he is still the reigning king Joker when he showed sympathy and support to his “tukayo”
***

“Vice president Noli de Castro says there should be no sacred cows in NBN probe.” Hurrah to that, but it would be better if he orders authorities to be impartial to their investigation and start investigating his superior and her bootlickers. If De Castro can do it, then I will salute him both hands.
***
“AFF soldiers remain loyal to the chain of command.” Really? We still have to see proof gentlemen, that the PNP has proved its loyalty to other “sipsiperior” when they “snatched” a star witness right inside the NAIA. Can you beat their record?
***
“DOJ recommends filing of criminal charges against review center President.” Whew! I thought they were filing criminal charges against the president. I could have been jumping now with joy.
***
“MBC calls on Atienza and Neri to resign.” If the two heed the call of MBC then we could still call them “honorables” but if they prefer to look the other way around and choose cliffhanging on their posts, then I might as well call them “kapalmuks na mga kapituko.”
***
“President Arroyo orders Cabinet to work with church, businessmen, academe in corruption war.” The lady president now wants to sweep the dirt’s and place it on the dust bin, not knowing that these dust can scatter again on the floor. Or did she just wanted to clean her hands before throwing the dirt?
***
“Solicitor General considers filing perjury charges versus Lozada family.” I would not be wondering if our courtrooms would be flooded with perjury cases but the solicitor general should instead file perjury charges to those accused who keep on lying before the senate
***
“ZTE probe witness Lozada wants normal life back.” The poor guy could be daydreaming. He is wishing for the star and asking the impossible. His testimonies will not be taken for granted and be forgotten by bootlickers and spin masters at Malacañang.
***
“Erap distances himself from calls for Arroyo resignation. “ He doesn’t want to violate conditions in his pardon, he fears of going back to prison.
***
“28 soldiers charged with 2006 mutiny throw support behind Lozada.” Lucky for Lozada, he got principled private army men
***
CIDG to prove Lozada’s claim Abalos threatened to kill him. Start now gentlemen and no “moro-moro”please!
