11-year-old boy electrocuted in Ilocos Sur

SIGAY, Ilocos Sur – Parents of an 11-year old boy who died after suffering serious burns caused by electrocution requested the police to conduct an investigation to find out who can be liable for negligence after electrified wires were left here at Barangay Mabileg in a dangerous area where the boy was playing “hide and seek” with his friends.

The boy died last Monday at the Ilocos Training and Regional Medical Center in San Fernando City, La Union.

The victim was allegedly electrocuted when he tried to hide by climbing a steel arch near the barangay hall.

Police said a hanging live wire was allegedly attached to the steel arch where the boy was playing.

“The boy was thrown several meters away after he got hold of the steel arch. He suffered third degree burns on the different parts of his body but did not survive due to the impact of the (electric) shock,” a nurse said. – Jerry Padilla
