BULL'S HIT

RUDY GARCIA

When we speak of graduation, I can’t help but recall the memories when I was once also marching towards the stage to get my graduation diploma. I felt nervous and my knees started to tremble as I arrived on stage.

I feel conscious on how I looked and how I walked on the aisles with my father, but I can surmise how proud a parent my father was while escorting me throughout the commencement ceremony that he didn’t notice I was too silent. I was just asking myself what could be next after my “rite of passage”

For most parents, whose sons or daughters were among the graduates, I guess they are now heaving signs of relief and thankful the load they have been carrying on their shoulders lessened. . Like my father, these parents could be feeling proud especially if their children were graduated with honors. To the parents, congratulations!

And to the graduates, welcome to your new world of another milestone. This is just a beginning for there are more challenges to come. May you be successful in all the endeavors of the life you choose. Don’t be afraid to step forward, be positive and be a plus factor for the upliftment of your alma mater

To the Philippine National Police Academy and Philippine Military Academy Baghawi Batch 2008 graduates, you are now police and military officers bound to serve and protect this country, the constitution and the people. Be loyal and be a true officer and a gentleman. Never get yourselves blinded by power and greed. Stay away from the dirty games of politics. Be true protectors, not oppressors!

To all the graduates, congrats and happy graduation. To their parents, a warm salute.. cheers!

The recent decision of the Supreme Court on Romulo Neri’s rights to executive privilege is but a joke to the Filipino people. It was seemingly a numbers game rather than a supreme study. This is likely a “license to kill”

I guess that this could be a fatal blow to the Senate blue ribbon committee investigating the ZTE NBN deal scandal and also to the Filipino people who wanted to know the truth. It may also be a deterrent to witnesses who wish to come out and testify on inquiries or investigations on cases of graft and corruption involving high government officials.

I just wonder if there will be more of Jun Lozada and Dante Madriaga. I also doubt if there will be whistleblowers who would dare come out. But, for sure there will be more government officials committing corruption in this Banana Republic who will perceived of having found an instrument ally to gag witnesses.

Sad to say but the decision of the SC could be used as a supplemental or exemplary evidence on cases of graft and corruption filed against high government officials. As the House claimed, the decision could lead to constitutional crisis and I believe so!

I salute Baguio City councilor Nicasio Aliping Jr. for coming out a proposed measure to weed out undesirable accredited smoke emission testing centers. While it was true that I have been making noise through this column regarding the existence of some corrupt people at the regional Land Transportation Office and Department of
Transportation and Communications and Land Transportation Regulatory Board in connivance with operators of these testing centers, only Aliping hds the wits and guts to file the measure. Once approved, then we can only perceive that those vehicles emitting “killer usok” days would numbered. Right ladies and gentlemen at the LTO and DOTC LTFRB CAR?.

The plan of the unified Baguio City public transport group particularly the Public Jeepney and Operators Group to file a petition for a fare hike is reasonable considering the terrain and road slopes in this summer capital.

The consecutive increase of gasoline and diesel fuel and even prices of spare parts are difficult for these drivers to make both ends meet. Could you imagine a driver who is a family man and the only breadwinner with only a P200 pesos as take home pay?

Would this be enough to support his family? I just hope concerned authorities will look into this matter of concern before these drivers will hold a massive transport strike like what happened in Metro Manila. Or worst, these drivers whose families could be getting hungry would be committing crime just to feed their families. As the saying goes “Ang gipit, kahit sa patalim, kumakapit!”
