LAGAWE, Ifugao – Sixteen videoke bars in five towns in the province were recently closed by a team of the local police, Social Welfare and Development Office and the Provincial Governor’s Office following surveillance.
The Provincial Social Welfare Office said in a report almost all videoke bars have no business permits as well as no working certificates, birth certificates of waitresses and employees.
Most if not all the videoke bars in the municipalities of Lagawe, Kiangan, Banaue and Lamut reportedly did not have medical and sanitary permits including fire inspection certificates.
Provincial Social Welfare Officer Joyce Niwane said the surveillance team and owners of the establishments agreed to temporary close the businesses until owners secure requirements such as business permit, sanitary permit, fire permit as well as the birth and medical certificate of their waitresses and employers.
Niwane added minors were seen around the premises of two videoke bars. She warned the owner and the mother that the next time they see a child in the videoke bar, the PSWDO will be forced to get the child under their custody.
