NPA guerilla slain in encounter with troops

GAMU, Isabela –Troops of 53rd Reconnaissance Company of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division engaged New People’s Army rebels in an encounter here morning of May 9 which resulted to the death of an NPA guerilla and wounding of several others.

Troopers under Lt Hiram I Logronio said they met around 30 NPAs under a certain Aka Pio while on patrol.

A report reaching Maj Gen Nestor Z Ochoa, Commander of the Army’s 5th Infantry Division, said after two days of hot pursuit, troops with the Army’s K9 Team, recovered one unidentified body of an NPA and war materials at the encounter site.
