SAGADA, Mountain Province – Police discovered explosives at a kiosk near a checkpoint here Feb. 22 around 9 a.m. inside a white sack.
Town police chief Insp. Benedict Kilotan Del-ong led a team which found the explosives near the Commission on Elections checkpoint at Junction Road, Sitio Nangonogan, Poblacion.
Police tried to locate the owner of the explosives but he could not be found.
The operatives, witnessed by civilians present at the area, opened the bag and found out it contained 10 pieces of yellow wrapped Nitro EM 150 brand dynamite sticks, 10 pieces blasting caps and around 10 meters of red igniting fuse.
Said contrabands are now under the custody of the said police station for proper disposition.
Intensified police checkpoints and search operations are being conducted by local police upon orders of provincial police director Supt. Fortunato Basco Albas in line with the Comelec gun ban during the election period.
