BULL’S HIT
Rudy Garcia
This is again a story of how our cops sometimes respond to incidents where they are needed ASAP. I am not saying some people are losing their confidence with our men in uniform because of their attitude. Read this cop’s story.
I was on my way to buy something at a nearby store along hilltop road near the Barangay Hall one evening of May 19 when I noticed a group of around four men ganging up on two persons near the intersection of Kayang and Shagem Street. A fistfight started where more persons got involved that resulted to a rumble and a free for all. I also saw a man pick up a stone and throw it at his opponent.
First I thought of playing a hero by pacifying them, but it was difficult to do so, for I am no superman or spiderman. So we waited for the police to arrive but to our dismay. After 20 minutes, there was still no policeman. Call it social responsibility; I decided to go and call the attention of some policemen standing outside Compac IV of BCPO Station 7. They only moved fast to proceed at the area when I urged them to respond immediately.
I could not blame bystanders if during such incidents, they say, “Saka lang darating ang mga pulis pag tapos na ang gulo (Policemen only arrive when the trouble is over.)” The truth hurts, right my dear brothers and sisters at the Baguio City Police Office?

The peryahan cum pasugalan of King Arthur in Sto. Niño Barangay at Slaughter house compound still operates with impunity up to now and wonder of wonders why our law enforcers don’t dare touch it, or perhaps they could not, because there are some people powerful at City Hall ordering them not to do so.
If so, then we wonder no more why King Arthur’s pasugalan at Slaughter House remains untouchable and this could also be the reason why illegal gambling dens in Baguio continue to multiply swarming in every nook and cranny while operators rake in money with their illegal activities with the help of those influential and powerful. How much could be their cash-sunduans? I guess it would be too big enough overflow from their pockets.

Speaking of illegal gambling, is it true that a montehan is being operated along the area of Malcom Square barangay? If this is true then I wonder if Punong Barangay William Domogen is aware of it or not. If he does, then he has a lot of explaining to do. May basbas ka ba dito, apo Domogen? Kung wala, ano pa ang hinihintay mo?

Perhaps, the “Flying Squad” of DOTC could do some spot checking of those vans for hire parked near the Baguio Chinese School near the intersection of Harrison Road and Diego Silang Street. These are used as public utility vehicles bound for Tayug, Pangasinan.
According to my bubwit who happened to ride one of them when he went down to Tayug, the driver was reckless. When he came back to Baguio, he filed a complaint at the office of the RTAS at the regional office of the DOTC at the post office loop.
When he followed up the complaint two weeks after, the investigating body at RTAS found out that there was no existing plate number of the vehicle reported to them by my bubwi. The plate number could be a fake and worst, the said van’s operator is a reportedly member of the association of drivers and operators that ply their trade on the terminal. This means, the association could be allowing vehicles which are colorums to ply within their route.
My bubwit said, they are now on the hearing process and the driver is now under interrogation at the said office of the DOTC. While I write this column, I’m wondering why is it that it is only the driver they are investigating, which I believe is only a small dot of the real picture. They should investigate and focus more on the association and the said terminal. Right Manong Federico “Bong” Mandapat Jr? Ipaimbestiga mo sila Ser!
