4 men nabbed in narra transport

BAUKO, Mountain Province -- Elements of Mountain Province Public Safety Company and town police station headed by Senior Insp. Pablo Undalos confiscated Tuesday illegally cut logs of narra trees valued at P64, 671 and arrested four persons at a checkpoint here in Barangay Sadsadan.

Reports said Bauko policemen intercepted a forward truck with plate number UJV-499 owned by Sauz Tomas of Centro San Mateo, Isabela and driven by Jovencio Agalao, Jr.,of Barangay Lanna, Tabuk City in Kalinga.

When the police checked the truck, they found illegally cut logs of narra, prompted the police to hold it since it had no permit to transport it.

Also held by the police for questioning were the driver’s companions identified as Dennis Lopez, of Pinukpuk, Kalinga; Joey Pineda of Masablang, Tabuk and Jerry Gasidan of Purok 6, Bulanao, Tabuk.

Confiscated were 34 pieces of narra lumber in different sizes with overall board feet of 356 valued at P2,098.

As personnel of Department of Environment and Natural Resources inventoried the lumber, they requested the driver to drop down the side walling of the vehicle and open the flooring which was temporarily welded,

This resulted to the discovery of another 33 pieces of narra lumber with a total of 361 board feet with a total market value of P32,563.

The suspects and confiscated lumber including the vehicle are now under the custody of the MPPSC.

Documents are being prepared for filling in court against the suspects.
