College students nabbed for drugs, gun

BAGUIO CITY -- Two college students were recently nabbed by guards of the VICAN Security Agency posted at the Shoe Mart (SM) City – Baguio for possession of illegal drugs, firearm and bullets.

Krizia Tabora Guevara, 20, single, and resident of Brent Wood Village here was caught with 7.79 grams of dried marijuana fruiting tops worth P200 by Noemi Banasen at the mall’s main entrance.

While conducting routine body search and baggage check to mall clients at around 3 p.m. p.m. on Sept. 6, the lady guard noticed something wrapped in newspaper and contained in a blue plastic bag inside Guevara’s bag.

When the former requested her to bare its contents, the latter refused, prompting the guard to open it in which the illegal drug was uncovered.

Guevara subsequently charged before the city prosecutor’s office for illegal possession of dangerous drugs.

The offense is bailable but if convicted, she will be imprisoned for 12 years.

Similarly, 0.88 grams of dried marijuana leaves placed in a plastic sachet and a Cal. 22 Magnum revolver, with two bullets were nabbed from Rheymart Wayan Avena, 19, single, 2nd Year college student, native of Bontoc, Mountain Province and resident of Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet, by guard Marcos Oliveros also at Baguio supermarket entrance around 5:30 p.m. last Aug. 26.

Avena was also carrying the contraband in his bag. He reportedly tried to settle the case with the arresting guard.

Cases for illegal possession of illegal drugs and firearms were filed against Avena at the city prosecutor’s office.
