The tournament was participated in by 11 teams from the JKA and Universal Shotokan Karate Union from Northern Luzon.
The winners were the following: individual kata for men ( 18-40 years old), gold- Rico Faryangan, silver- Henry Fad-ingan, and bronze-Orville Wap, Wilber Forayang Jr.and Lynden Codmor; individual kata for men and women (45-60), silver- Leonardo Abbugao, Jr. and Jacqueline Joven; individual kata for women (7-17),bronze-Lourie Lynne Aspiras.
Individual kumite for men (18-40 years old),gold-Wilbur Forayang Jr., silver- Orville Wap, and bronze- Henry Fad-ingan; individual kumite for men (15-17), silver-Kevin Kapawen; and individual kumite for women (12-15), bronze-Lourie Lynne Aspiras.
Present during the tournament were Kenichi Fukamizu, 7th dan-black belt, founder and representative from Japan and Danilo Maliones, 5th dan-black belt of USKU of the Philippines.
Leonardo Abbugao, a 1st dan black belt and a silver medal winner is inviting interested karate afionados to join regular karate practices that will soon commence this December at the 1st floor of the Tudlong Bldg, Samoki, Bontoc, Mountain Province. -- Francis B. Degay
