Suspects in killing of tanod, driver nabbed

BANGUED, Abra – Two men were recently arrested for the killing of a barangay tanod and tricycle driver in Abra.

In the first incident, Boyet A. Atmosfera was arrested Dec. 31 by Dolores police at SitioPudao, Barangay Mudit, Dolores in the town for shooting to death Rodrigo B. Atmosfera, 44, single, resident of same place, a barangay tanod.

Investigation revealed the victim and the suspect, both cousins were having a drinking session at the residence of Rosalinda Atmosfera when a heated argument ensued between them prompting the suspect to shoot the victim.

As a result, the victim sustained gunshot wound on his back that resulted to his death while the suspect was immediately arrested by police.

Atmosphera and the homemade shotgun used in the shooting were brought to the town police station.

On Dec. 29, another shooting incident transpired wherein the suspect identified as Bartolome Trinidad, resident of Zone 3, Bangued, Abra was also arrested after he allegedly shot to death a tricycle driver identified as Elmar B. Bayle, 39, of Barangay Calaba, Bangued, Abra at about 3:50 p.m. that dayat Lopez Jaena St. Zone 3 in the capital town.

Trinidad was arrested at his residence by police and is now under the custody of Bangued police while the firearm he used was missing.
