LINGAYEN, Pangasinan– A jail guard here has been suspended for 60 days for allegedly coercing an inmate to stab another inmate.
Marcelo Lopez was charged on Jan. 19 with gross misconduct for “threatening, intimidating and coercing” inmate Gilbert Diaz, 31 to kill Felipe Quiliope, 53 and offering him a reward of P25,000.
Diaz stabbed Quiliope in different parts of body using an icepick Lopez provided, according to Geraldine Baniqued, provincial legal officer, who signed the suspension order.
Deputy provincial jail warden Porferio Cruz told BomboRadyoDagupan that Lopez allegedly ordered rape suspect Diaz to stab Quillope who is accused of murder.
Quillope is a suspect in the killing of retired judge Corazon Merrera.
It was the second time that Quillope was stabbed in the provincial jail; the first was last Oct. 12.
PO1 Rodolfo Naungayen, a police investigator, quoted Diaz as saying that Lopez promised to give him the money if he would stab Quillope.
