SP suspends Bulacan mayor

MALOLOS CITY– TheBulacan provincial board suspended Tuesday for six months Mayor Ronaldo Flores of the mountain town of DonyaRemedios Trinidad with 6-3 vote with four members absent.

Vice Gov. Daniel Fernando said the decision is immediately executory after Gov. Wilhelmino Alvarado signs it.

For more than three months, the provincial board investigated charges of conflict of interest and violation of environmental laws filed against Flores, a first-time mayor.

A provincial board member said government officials like Alvarado should set a good example in following laws so that residents won’t make disdainful comments against them as what happened to the mayor.
