3 men nabbed in checkpoint with P3 M marijuana



TUBLAY, Benguet – Police arrested three persons here last week for illegally transporting marijuana worth P3,197,500.

Friday morning, a concerned citizen tipped off Senior Insp. Ronald N. Vizcara that persons will be transporting marijuana bound towards nearby Trinidad, Benguet.

Town police immediately established a checkpoint at about 7 a.m. here at Barangay Caponga and intercepted a Hundai Van with plate number AYP 4444 driven by Alipio Gil-o, 45, of Bangao, Buguias with three other companions.

The suspects were identified  as Amor Cagayan, 28;  Lindo Jose Sawasis, 39; ArnisApopotMangilay, 32, all from Kibungan.

 During the search, it was found out that 30 bricks and 14 marijuana layers weighing 73.5 kilograms were found inside the van.

It was learned the suspects loaded the items in Sinipsip, Buguias,Benguet.

The suspects and pieces of evidence were brought to the Tublay police station for safe-keeping while charges for illegal drugs were set to be filed against the suspects.
