Another missing fisherman rescued off Ilocos waters

CAMP QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur — Another missing fisherman was rescued by local residents who found him swimming on the coastline in Barangay Puro, Magsingal, Ilocos Sur Monday afternoon.

Senior Insp. Andrew Rabang, Magsingal chief of police, identified the rescued fisherman as Jeffrey Nieva, 23, of SitioBayacbac, Barangay Jerminal, Bolinao, Pangasinan.

Rabang said Nieva was rescued by fisherman Randy Pagay, of Barangay Puro around 1:10 p.m.

 “Pagay had seen Nieva floating near the fish sanctuary with his motorized banca that suffered engine trouble,” Rabang said, clarifying that Nieva is not one of the four missing fishermen whose boat was struck by another vessel in waters off Bolinao, Pangasinan last week.
