Ilocos Sur museum for WW2 artifacts proposed

By Freddie G. Lazaro

VIGAN CITY — A museum at the site of the Battle of Bessang Pass in Barangay Malaya, Cervantes, Ilocos Sur had been proposed by a provincial official for use as storage area of all World War II artifacts recovered from the place for preservation and remembrance.

Vice Gov. Deogracias Victor B. Savellano noted the absence of a building in the area where recovered relics or antique WWII equipment and war materials from the historical site can be stored.

“There’s a need to construct a museum at the site of the Battle of Bessang Pass to preserve the memories of World War II’s fierce battle there and to promote the place as tourism site,” Savellano said.
