P275 M set for road projs to boost Kabayan tourism

KABAYAN, Benguet-- A total budget of P275 million was allocated for development   of roads  in this remote town,  the home of centuries- old mummies and  Mt. Pulag, the second highest peak in the country, to boost  tourism  in the area.

Benguet Rep. Ronald Cosalan said with thousands of foreign and local tourists visiting Kabayanevery year, there wasneed to improve roads to ease travel going to destinations.

Kabayan Mayor Faustino Aquisan  said  aside from boosting  tourism,  good  roads will boost local economy. With improved roads, Aquisan said, the municipality would be linked to neighboring towns which are also tourism destinations like Sagada and Banaue.

Kabayan is known for Mt. Pulag, 2,924 meters above sea level, a favorite  destination  of  mountaineers and adventure lovers, and  the  centuries- old mummies.  

Nature lovers can also view four pristine lakes:Tabeyo Lake, Letepngepos Lake, Incolos Lake, and the multi-awarded cleanest inland Ambulalakaw Lake, with their ice cool crystal clear and lush green foliage that  can  surely refresh tired souls.
