BAGUIO
CITY - The Department of Education Division of Baguio City
Alternative Learning System (ALS) in coordination with the city government held
a simple awarding ceremony for 178 deserving ALS Implementers and Partners recently
at the Baguio Central School Social Hall.
ALS education
program supervisor Arthur Tiongan said the plaques of recognition were given to
the 178 deserving awardees, who participated in promotion, implementation and
success of ALS programs.
Tiongan
added with the program, they are not only providing livelihood opportunities
but also giving a chance for the elementary, high school undergraduates and
out-of-school youths to continue their studies and subsequently pursue a higher
goal in life.
The 178
partners from different agencies who were recognized were regional
administrators, division administrators, school heads, district ALS
coordinators, mobile teachers, facilitators, school coordinators, livelihood
skills trainers, barangay officials, NGOs, retired partners, and other
partners.
Plaques
of recognition were also given to Mayor Mauricio Domogan, Vice Mayor Daniel
Farinas, Councilors Fred Bagbagen, Peter Fianza, Betty Lourdes Tabanda, Joel
Alangsab, Mr. Wilson Banasen, Atty. George Fortea, and Rep. Bernardo Vergara.
Mayor
Domogan thanked the ALS for the recognition and said that “giving recognitions
would inspire and motivate other ALS implementers and partners to be more
hardworking and dedicated”. He also congratulated the deserving awardees and
hoped for a continuous commitment in intensifying the DepEds’ campaign against
illiteracy. -- JhoArranz
