P5 M aid given to Baguio City folks in crisis situations

BAGUIO CITY – More than P5 million has been disbursed through the City Social Welfare and Development Office aid to individuals in crisis situations, it was stated in the agency’s 2012 accomplishment report.
               
With Betty Fangasan as head, the agency has sourced out P994,620 from its own funds for medical, burial and assistance to 932 individuals who may be victims of fire, and violence to women and children. External funds from various sources amounting to P4,224,900 has served 1,460 individuals.

Thus a total of P5,219,520 was used to serve 2,392 clients, who availed of the assistance “to cope with problems due to socio-economic difficulties.”

The external funds were from the Priority Development Assistance Fund (PDAF) of Sen. Francisco Pangilinan, P1,005,000, which served 157 clients; Sen. Osmena’s PDAF of P1,185,315 which served 261; Sen. Francisco Escudero’s PDAF of P200,000 for 44 individuals.

Baguio Rep. Bernardo Vergara contributed 620,000 from his PDAF which served 124; while the local development fund (LDF) of the city councilors amounting to 1,139,585 has served 859 needy citizens.

In addition, the CSWDO has extended food assistance amounting to P297,000 for 990 clients; assistance to families of deceased World War II Veterans amounting to P80,000; emergency shelter assistance amounting to P545,750 for 76 families; BalikProbinsya Program with funding of P92,300 for 29 clients; and counseling for 815 walk-in clients

Other services given were referrals to the Health Services Office; free medicines, maximum discount of anti-rabies vaccine and laboratory tests; free coffin for deceased indigents; medical assistance and referrals to the National Kidney Institute, Philippine Heart Center, Lung Center with the total amount of P3,850, 580.
