BAGUIO CITY -- A
swan-shaped tourist row boat the newly-rehabilitated lake at the Burnham
Park capsized Monday afternoon, sending a family of four including a
child into the now deeper lake waters here.
Though Baguio tourist police said
the tourists from Malabon were not seriously hurt, besides getting wet and
their electronic gadgets soaked in lake waters, the incident raises
questions about the safety of tourists in the boating area.
Reports said the boat
concessionaire paid the tourist family P11,000 for the damaged electronic
gadgets.
The man-made lake was dredged of
mud last February and the rehabilitation has deepened the water to eight feet.
“They were safe though,” said
tourist police head Insp. Virgilio Hidalgo stationed at Burnham Park.
