BAGUIO CITY – The city council has confirmed
a memorandum of agreement that would allow the city to haul out its wastes to
the engineered sanitary landfill in Urdaneta City from December 12, 2012 to
December 11, 2014.The
agreement was signed by Mayor Mauricio Domogan and N4th Enterprises
proprietress Maria Rhodora Flores.
As per the MOA, the city can dispose 150 tons of residual and mixed solid wastes
daily to the Urdaneta facility through Flores.
The
city will be responsible in ensuring that the waste materials contain no
medical or toxic components from hospitals and clinics.
The
city will be charged a tipping fee of P972 per ton.
Flores
will deliver the waste materials brought by the city to her place of business
to the Urdaneta City facility and ensure that the waste are received in the
facility.
Flores
will also inspect and monitor the delivered wastes prior to their delivery to
the facility.
The city pursued
hauling out wastes to the Urdaneta facility to cut down on transport costs but
it continues to avail of the services of the Capas facility for wastes not
accepted by the Urdaneta station.
General services officer and solid waste division head Romeo Concio said the city
spends between P7-8 million per month in hauling wastes.
