Cordillera police has another general

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – The Cordillera regional police office has another general within its ranks in the person of Chief Supt. Roberto Quinto Soriano.

Soriano, a member of the Philippine Military Academy Class of 1983, is currently the regional police director for administration and the concurrent commander of the regional special operations task group  Abra as handpicked by Philippine National Police Director General Allan La Madrid Purisima.

Chief Supt. Benjamin B. Magalong, regional police director, said  Soriano deserved star rank.

President Benigno Simeon C.Aquino  signed the promotion papers of Soriano first week of March. He took his oath before Purisima recently.

“The Cordillera has a special place in my heart. It was the first region where I was assigned after graduation from the Academy. Now it is the region where I am assigned and was able to get my star rank,” Soriano said, adding promotion of rank goes with greater responsibility.

The new general was accorded the traditional arrival honors and parade and review by Camp Dangwas personnel.

Under  PNP guidelines, the deputy regional director for administration who was able to get a star rank cannot directly assume the position of regional director if he will not move out from the region and have an assignment.

It is only then that the former DRDA can be again reassigned to his previous region as head.

Soriano thanked all those who, in one way or the other, played a key role in achieving his recent accomplishment to be one of the newest general in the PNP today which happened nearly three weeks prior to the ban on the appointment of government officials and employees. -- Dexter A. See
