Driver hurt as Beneco truck falls in Benguet ravine


TUBA, Benguet  --  A driver of the Benguet Electric Coop. was hurt when he lost control of the truck he was driving and fell into a 15-feet  deep ravine along Marcos Highway here Monday.

Bernardo Camilo, 32, sustained  minor injuries and  was brought to the hospital as the  Isuzu Elf bearing plate number XFM 791 he as driving and owned by Beneco lost its brakes and fell.

Camilo, a lineman of Beneco, was reportedly on his way to Pangasinan and was negotiating a descending bend when the vehicle's brakes malfunctioned.

The Beneco driver reportedly swerved to the right and dived into the ravine.

Also on Monday morning, in Bangued, Abra’s capital town, a 73-year-old woman was hit by an ambulance of Langiden town.

Purificacion Calubuso Paligutan, a resident of Harrison St., Zone 7, also in Bangued, was crossing Rizal street when the ambulance driven by Ramon Palason Viado, who had no driver’s license, hit her.

The ambulance, police said, had no license plate.


The driver was arrested by police while the  victim was brought to the hospital.
